At the IPA we understand those challenges and work hard to build a professional community of members who understand, and who can provide encouragement and advice that can be incredibly beneficial to not only your day-to-day work but your wellbeing.

1. Professional Recognition
The Institute of Public Accountants is one of three professional accounting bodies recognised in Australian legislation, alongside the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and Certified Public Accountants Australia (CPA). The IPA represents over 49,000 qualified accountants and students throughout Australia and overseas, and is a member of the Joint Accounting Bodies.
2. Have your voice heard
Stay informed by joining regular town hall meetings, which provide our members a platform to express concerns, opinions, and ideas directly to the IPA leadership team on matters that impact your community. You can also participate in your local Divisional Advisory Committee (DAC). This member-run committee provides members with an opportunity to join discussions, influence policies and initiatives directly with DAC state representatives. Your input can shape the direction of your community and help prioritise issues that matter most to you.

Why we are different
At the IPA it is important to us that our members don’t feel like a number. With that in mind, we have focused our attention on providing a range of resources and products to support Accountants in their day-to-day work, overall wellbeing, and education. We don't use call centres, our CEO personally contacts new members, and we are immensely passionate about supporting Small Businesses. As a member of the IPA your existing membership levels with Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) will be recognised as will applicable qualifications*.

How to Join
Joining the IPA is simple:
- Click on the "Join Now" button.
- Create an IPA login.
- Fill out the membership application form.
- Complete the payment process.
Once your membership is approved, you'll receive an online welcome email and access to all our member resources.
*Eligibility for Joint IPA membership will be determined by the assessment of your existing membership level and your previous education by an IPA representative.
