The Australian Taxation Office recently introduced a draft tax ruling and draft guideline in relation to classifying workers as employees or contractors. When the draft ruling is finalised, the final ruling will apply both before and after its issue date.
This webinar will explore:
- The employee versus contractor area of the tax law is a complex area and currently in the Australian Taxation Office (‘ATO’) spotlight.
- There were 2 High Court decisions a year ago which changed the landscape in this area, effectively placing an emphasis on the contract.
- There are several factors to consider under this guidance. Further, where an individual is engaged under a contract principally for labour then superannuation guarantee will apply; (including as a sole trader and under an ABN).
- This session will provide an important update to cover the latest ATO guidance.
