The Australian Taxation Office is evolving their approach to delivering the lodgment program, managing Lodgment deferrals, and enhancing support options. These form part of a number of current initiatives aimed at ‘improving agent lodgment performance’.

With 15 May fast approaching, they have partnered with the IPA to deliver a two-part session aimed at increasing members’ knowledge and understanding of the Lodgment Program and its nuances, how the Lodgment Program Framework applies to you and your clients, including deferral requests, and the future direction of their lodgment support strategies.

Both sessions will be interactive practical sessions that deal with everyday experiences of tax practitioners and how you can improve your lodgments.

Topic Covered: 

We will explor>e the key reasons driving the ATO’s increased focus on ‘improving lodgment performance’, along with the factors influencing this strategic approach. During this session, the ATO will share:

  • Statistics and trends obtained from their ongoing monitoring of the profession.
  • Explain why improving lodgment performance is so crucial.
  • Discuss what this means for the profession and practice management moving forward.
  • Share lodgment tips and best practices and explain why adopting these are so important.
  • How will the next 12 month differ to what you may have experienced before.

Meet Your Speaker, Felix Manero

Felix is the Senior Director of Intermediaries Engagement & Support in the ATO. He holds several key responsibilities and portfolios including, management and delivery of the Lodgment program and its associated support strategies. A recent key project he initiated and delivered was the new Online for Services for Agent Lodgment deferral function. He also leads the Tax Practitioner Assistance service.

Felix joined the ATO in 2000 and has worked in numerous components within the organisation from compliance, technical leadership to client relationship, giving him a broad view and understanding of the tax landscape.
